What is the essential care for a rodent?
The word "rodent" covers very different animals: guinea pig, hamster, rat, mouse, gerbil, chinchilla, degu… Each has its own needs, but a few common principles: a species-appropriate diet, a spacious and clean habitat, a stable temperature (rodents tolerate heat above 25°C very poorly), and careful monitoring of their general condition. Small and fragile, they hide their illnesses — hence the importance of a specialized exotic (NAC) vet. Not all vets are trained in these species.
